A coronavirus related conference has been canceled as reported by the Independent. The round table conference named Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) got canceled to avoid the coronavirus epidemic.
CFR was meant to take place on Friday, other press conferences were also scheduled in the US between 11 March and April 3.
According to The Independent, which got The Think Tank’s statement, the council has suspended all in-person events effectively today through at least Friday, 3 April 2020. Here’s the complete statement:
“Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, the Council on Foreign Relations, like many other organizations, has suspended all in-person events effectively today through at least Friday, 3 April 2020. Our foremost concern is for the health and safety of Council members, staff, and the community.”
A total of 173 cases have been confirmed with COVID-19 in New York. Other events related to tech, business, culture, and sports have also been canceled or postponed due to coronavirus outbreak. Only in the US, more than 1000 people have been infected and resulted in 29 deaths.
The rising number of coronavirus cases in the United States has caused panic among people. The White House and Congress are taking measures to deal with this pandemic.
